Can You Get Married At Lighthouse Park? Here’s What You Need To Know

Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver is undeniably stunning, making it a dream location for many couples. However, there are some important things to know about current regulations for weddings, photography, and special events.

Are Weddings Allowed at Lighthouse Park?

  • Currently, no. Weddings and wedding photography are not permitted at Lighthouse Park.

  • The District of West Vancouver has strict policies to protect the natural environment.

  • Wedding photography falls under the Filming Policy, which also prohibits commercial photography.

  • Good News! The District is working on potentially allowing small weddings in designated areas in the future. There is no official timeline yet, but it's an exciting possibility!

What About Special Events?

  • Permits are required for special events.

  • Each request is reviewed individually.

  • Only low-impact events are typically considered (e.g., guided nature walks).

  • Large gatherings, music festivals, or events that could harm the environment are strictly prohibited. This includes styled shoots, content days, photography workshops etc.

  • For more details, you can review the full Special Events Policy here

Is Photography or Filming Allowed?

  • Filming is not permitted.

  • Commercial photography (including professional wedding and engagement sessions) is also not allowed under the Filming Policy.

  • If you're planning a photoshoot beyond casual personal use, check with the District to see if a permit is needed.

  • More information is available in the official Filming Policy here

Why Are There These Restrictions?

The restrictions are in place to protect Lighthouse Park's:

  • Wildlife: To avoid disruption.

  • Vegetation: To prevent damage.

  • Overall Environment: To minimize waste and litter.

These rules help ensure the park remains pristine for everyone to enjoy now and in the future.
