Pitt Meadows Helicopter Elopements:
Get Married Above It All

The Sky Elopement is a fully planned helicopter wedding experience departing from Pitt Meadows, British Columbia. It includes a 30-minute round-trip helicopter flight, a 60-minute backcountry landing, officiant services, two hours of photography, hair and makeup for one person, custom florals, planning, and day-of coordination.

This package is for couples who want a private ceremony in a remote mountain setting without coordinating the flight, vendors, timeline, and ceremony logistics themselves. The exact route and landing location are selected by the pilot according to weather, visibility, aircraft limits, and safe landing conditions.

You lift off and watch the city fall away. The light changes, the noise disappears, and your wedding day becomes smaller in the best possible way: the two of you, your vows, and a landscape you could not reach by road.

Possible settings include mountain peaks, alpine lakeshores, and glacier-fed backcountry areas. A specific peak, snow condition, view, or landing environment cannot be guaranteed.

Weight Limits, Weather, Guests, and Flight Requirements

What is the helicopter weight limit?

The stated maximum weight is 300 pounds per seat, fully dressed. Boots, coats, wedding clothing, and other worn items must be included when reporting weight.

Every passenger must provide an accurate dressed weight before the wedding and complete a pre-flight weigh-in on the day. Passenger weights are required so the pilot can calculate aircraft balance and safe operating limits.

A significant difference from a previously reported weight may lead to:

  • Additional charges

  • A different aircraft

  • An additional helicopter

  • Fewer permitted passengers

  • Cancellation of the flight

Is the landing location guaranteed?

No. The pilot selects the landing location according to weather, visibility, wind, terrain, aircraft performance, and safe access.

A peak landing may be replaced with an alpine lake, streambed, or another approved backcountry site. A particular view, elevation, snow condition, or landscape cannot be guaranteed.

What happens if the weather prevents flying?

The pilot has final authority over whether the flight can proceed.

Weather or operational conditions may lead to:

  1. A different landing site

  2. A delayed departure

  3. A postponed flight

  4. Rescheduling to another date

  5. A same-day ground elopement at an alternative location

When a couple chooses the ground alternative, only the defined helicopter portion of the package is refunded. Publish the exact value or calculation method and identify all non-refundable vendor and planning costs.

Can we bring guests?

Additional guests require advance approval. Every guest must provide an accurate dressed weight and meet all operator requirements.

Aircraft capacity, total passenger weight, equipment, landing conditions, and operator approval determine how many guests can attend. Added passengers or an additional helicopter may result in extra charges.

Can children attend?

Children may be able to attend with advance approval from the helicopter operator. Age, weight, hearing protection, seating, restraint requirements, and landing conditions must be considered before booking.

Can pets attend?

Pets may be able to attend only with advance approval from the helicopter operator. Animal size, combined passenger weight, restraint requirements, noise sensitivity, aircraft capacity, and landing conditions may affect approval.

Who can act as witnesses?

A legal marriage requires two witnesses. The pilot and photographer can generally serve as witnesses when both are present and eligible.

Couples may request their own witnesses, subject to passenger capacity, weight calculations, operator approval, and additional fees.

Can someone fly while pregnant?

Pregnant passengers should consult their healthcare provider when they have medical concerns, are nearing their due date, or have been advised to avoid flying.

All passengers must also meet the helicopter operator’s boarding and safety requirements.

What should we wear?

Closed-toe footwear with reliable tread is recommended because backcountry landing areas may contain snow, rock, mud, water, or uneven terrain.

Snow may remain at elevation during summer. Bring weather-appropriate layers, and wear insulated boots and outerwear for winter flights. Couples may change at the SKY Hangar before departure.

Do we need a marriage licence?

Couples who want a legal marriage must purchase and bring a valid British Columbia marriage licence. The licence is not included in the package price.
