Vancouver Ocean Elopements:
Let the Tide Slow You Down
The Ocean Elopement is a fully planned sailing elopement package that includes the harbour cruise, officiant, photography, hair and makeup for one person, custom florals, planning, and day-of coordination.
This experience is for couples who want an intimate wedding on the water without managing the vendors, timeline, permits, and ceremony details themselves. Sailing routes and timing are weather-dependent, and boat-specific footwear and safety requirements apply.
There is something about the ocean that brings you back into the present: the salt in the air, the rhythm of the waves, and the Vancouver skyline slipping into the distance.
You exchange vows on the water with space to breathe, laugh, and take in the moment. We handle the logistics so that your wedding feels calm, personal, and entirely yours.

Ocean Elopement Rules, Weather, and Logistics
The sailing vessel departs from Granville Island in Vancouver. Paid parking is available but can be difficult to find, so couples and guests should arrive early.
The vessel must depart on schedule. A late arrival may reduce the amount of sailing, ceremony, or photography time available.
When is the Ocean Package available?
The standard package is available Monday through Thursday throughout the year, subject to vessel and vendor availability. Weekend dates are available for an additional fee.
Can we bring guests or witnesses?
The captain and photographer can serve as the two witnesses required for a legal ceremony. Couples may bring their own witnesses or additional guests, subject to the vessel’s passenger limit and any additional guest fees.
Can children attend?
Children may attend when the vessel’s capacity and safety requirements allow. A sailboat may not be suitable for every toddler or young child.
Each child must bring an appropriately sized, approved personal flotation device. Add any minimum-age or adult-supervision requirements supplied by the vessel operator.
Can pets attend?
Pets are not permitted aboard the vessel.
What happens if the weather is unsafe?
The captain has final authority over sailing safety. Weather or marine conditions may require the captain to alter the route, change the ceremony location, postpone the sailing, or cancel the sailing portion.
When sailing is not possible, couples may:
Reschedule the Ocean Elopement according to the booking terms; or
Convert the booking to an eligible Earth Elopement.
When converting to an Earth Elopement, the amount allocated to the Sea experience is not refunded. Add the exact rescheduling period, fees, vendor-availability conditions, and treatment of any price difference.
What footwear is permitted?
Heels and footwear that could damage or mark the deck are not permitted. Wear boat shoes, sneakers, or secure sandals with light-coloured, non-marking soles.
The captain or crew may ask passengers to remove unsuitable footwear.
What should we wear?
Conditions on the water can be windy and cooler than conditions on land, including during summer. Bring a jacket or warm layer that can be removed for photographs.
What should we know about motion sickness?
The sailing area is generally protected, but the vessel may still move. Anyone concerned about motion sickness should consult a pharmacist or healthcare professional and follow the directions for any product they choose to use.
Do we need a marriage licence?
Yes. Couples who want a legal marriage must obtain and bring a valid British Columbia marriage licence. The licence is not included in the package price.
