Lower Mainland Nature Elopements:
The Kind of Quiet That Stays With You

The Earth Elopement is a fully planned outdoor wedding experience offered across British Columbia’s Lower Mainland, from Lions Bay to Chilliwack. It includes location planning, an officiant, two hours of photography, hair and makeup for one person, custom florals, planning, and day-of coordination.

This package is for couples who want a private forest, lakeside, garden, beach, or trail ceremony without coordinating multiple vendors themselves. Location availability, walking requirements, permits, guest limits, pet access, and weather plans vary by site.

No crowded timeline. No day spent managing vendors. Just you, your person, and a setting chosen to fit the way you want the day to feel.

Walk beneath old trees. Exchange vows beside a lake. Take time to breathe, explore, and remember the experience rather than rushing through it.

“Jocelyn & Sea to Sky Elopements made everything so smooth and easy- our wedding day was amazing and as stress free as possible! Even during a heat wave and a ten month old in the wedding party, everything went off without a hitch and my husband and I wouldn’t have changed a thing about it. Jocelyn was always quick to answer our questions and come up with suggestions as I was more of a “go with the flow” bride- on the day of she was on top of everything and SO organized. I didn’t have to worry about a thing. We are so, so happy we with with her for our elopement, I couldn’t have pictured a better wedding day. ”

Location, Weather, Guests, and Marriage Requirements

Where can an Earth Elopement take place?

Earth Elopements are offered across the Lower Mainland, from Lions Bay to Chilliwack. Your planner recommends suitable locations based on scenery, season, accessibility, guest count, pet access, permit requirements, and the amount of walking you are comfortable with.

Specific locations remain subject to availability, closures, permits, and local regulations.

How early should we arrive?

Plan to arrive at the confirmed meeting point 20 to 30 minutes before the scheduled departure for the ceremony location.

Late arrival may reduce the ceremony, exploration, or photography time available.

How much walking is involved?

Most locations require at least a short walk over natural or uneven ground. The required distance and terrain vary by location.

Tell the planning team about mobility needs before location selection so they can recommend an appropriate site.

What happens if it rains?

Earth Elopements generally continue in light rain, and umbrellas can be incorporated into the experience.

The location or schedule may change when conditions create a safety concern, road closure, park closure, wildfire risk, flooding, heavy snow, extreme heat, or unsafe trail conditions. A backup plan should be confirmed before the wedding date.

Can we bring children or pets?

Children and pets are welcome when the selected location permits them. Guest limits, leash requirements, wildlife restrictions, and pet-access rules vary by site.

All children and animals must remain under the supervision of a responsible adult.

Who can serve as our witnesses?

For a legal marriage, two witnesses are required. Your planner and photographer can usually serve as witnesses, or you may bring your own, subject to the selected location’s guest capacity.

When is the package available?

The standard Earth Elopement package is available Monday through Thursday throughout the year, subject to location and vendor availability.

Weekend dates are available for an additional fee.

What should we wear?

Closed-toe shoes or boots with reliable tread are recommended for natural and uneven terrain. Heels can be carried and changed into at the ceremony site when conditions allow.

Bring layers appropriate for the season. Winter elopements may require insulated footwear, jackets, gloves, and weather-resistant outerwear.

Do we need a marriage licence?

Couples who want a legal marriage must purchase and bring a valid British Columbia marriage licence.

The licence itself is not included in the package price. The officiant completes the ceremony documents and submits the required registration paperwork after the ceremony.
