J & C’s Magical Lynn Valley Elopement
Some love stories are just waiting for the right moment to unfold. For J & C, that moment came in the form of our winter elopement giveaway! As the grand prize winners, they received an entirely FREE elopement, everything from photography and videography to hair, makeup, florals, planning and coordination, permits, insurance, and officiating. The only costs they had to cover were their attire and marriage license. It was the perfect push they needed to tie the knot after nearly three years of engagement.

A Behind-the-Scenes Look
Planning this elopement was a true team effort, especially since I was unable to be there in person due to a broken foot. While I handled all the planning, our incredible officiant, Jude, stepped in to coordinate the day. A GREAT reason to have a strong team for your day! We all work together and rely on one another for a seamless experience for our couples
The day started with an unexpected weather twist. Jude arrived under clear skies, so she left her umbrella in the car, only for the heavens to open up and pour rain moments later! Thankfully, she always comes prepared with a spare change of ceremony clothes!
By the time J & C arrived, the rain had eased up, leaving behind an overcast sky. (Perfect for photos!) It’s always important to keep the weather in mind when planning an outdoor wedding. But, while rainy days may seem dreary, they really are perfect for exceptional, moody wedding photos!

An Early Morning Adventure
Because J & C had a ferry reservation to catch for their honeymoon in Tofino, we had a tight schedule to follow. But tight timelines just so happen to be my specialty! (Seriously, I am the Queen of Timelines.) My team was up at 3:00 AM, heading to Langley to get J all dolled up before they made their way to the ceremony site. To reduce stress on the special day, I suggested that J & C pack their car ahead of time, and I also had their florals delivered to their house the night before. J’s bouquet was especially meaningful as it featured a sunflower for her grandma and a lily for her mom. We love personal touches like this!
By 9:00 AM, everyone was on-site and ready to go, including their beloved dog, Ember, who was an essential part of the day. J & C couldn’t imagine their wedding without her! The couple looked stunning, and what made it even more special was that much of their outfits and accessories were inexpensive, thrifted, and handed down! More proof that a beautiful wedding doesn’t have to come with a hefty price tag. J, a thrifting enthusiast, truly embodied how to create something unique and personal without breaking the bank.

The Ceremony & Photoshoot
The group initially stopped at the suspension bridge, and even that early in the morning, the crowds were growing. Wanting a more private moment, the group pivoted and decided to hold the ceremony first. It was a smart move, as the location started filling up right after they exchanged vows. (Good call, Jude!)
This is where working with experienced professionals makes all the difference. Popular locations like this one are never truly empty, even in the off-season. A well-planned timeline (and a little flexibility) helps ensure you still get those intimate, picture-perfect moments. Knowing when to shift plans on the fly, without adding stress to the couple, is exactly why having an expert on-site is so valuable. On your wedding day, you should be soaking in the moment, not making last-minute logistical decisions.
For their ceremony, J & C stood atop a breathtaking rock at a 30-foot pool, sharing heartfelt vows that reflected their deep, 13-year-long connection. Because the rock was slightly wet, they signed their marriage license after the ceremony (just one of the many small adjustments that come with an outdoor elopement). Their love and commitment were undeniable, making the moment all the more powerful.
Afterward, we explored the area together for photos, capturing stunning shots by the river, within the lush ferns, and framed by the towering trees. J had specifically requested some wide landscape shots to showcase the grandeur of the forest, and the results were absolutely magical. (Never be afraid to ask for what you want!) At one point, they climbed onto a rock for some epic, cinematic images that perfectly encapsulated their adventurous spirits.
Once they wrapped up their first round of photos, they took their dog back to the car where she could rest comfortably away from growing crowds while J & C returned to the suspension bridge for some more breathtaking shots!

Golden Ears vs. Lynn Valley: Choosing the Perfect Elopement Spot
Originally, J & C had envisioned their elopement at Golden Ears, but due to high water levels and park damage, it wasn’t accessible. (It is open now, in case you were wondering!) So, I had to find them a new spot with similar vibes that they could still love. We went with Lynn Valley, a location that still provided the forested, nature-filled vibe they had dreamed of. This is why having an experienced team is so important. We take the time to understand your vision and can make adjustments while ensuring your elopement is as seamless and stress-free as possible.
Should We Do Another Elopement Giveaway?
J & C’s elopement was proof that magical weddings don’t need a massive budget. All they truly need is the right people, the right planning, and a little adventure. And, of course, a four-legged family member to share the moment with!
So, I’m curious: Should we run another winter elopement giveaway this year? Let me know what you think!
