Andrea and Robbie’s elopement came together in four days! A new record for me!

They wanted something intimate with a small group of the people they love most in a  gorgeous space that felt like a little sanctuary. Here is how it all came together!

How the whole day came together in 4 days

Still grinning from this part! Their inquiry landed on a Sunday, and as I sat down to reply on Monday, I realized they wanted to elope that very Saturday. So I closed the email and picked up the phone.

I told them the truth. I could absolutely make this happen, and to do it well, we would need to lock everything in that same day. By the end of the day, they had signed and paid, and we were off. Planning started the next day for their wedding that Saturday.

An elopement like this usually comes together over many months, but theirs came together in just four days. It was a whirlwind, and it worked because of strong systems, a trusted vendor team, and a couple who knew exactly what they wanted. Even with the fast timeline, the day itself felt calm and unhurried, which was the whole point.

Why they chose a hotel elopement at The Douglas

We planned the entire day at The Douglas, part of the Autograph Collection in downtown Vancouver. It was the perfect fit. Andrea and Robbie booked a beautiful suite with a private balcony, and we brought almost everything to them. Hair and makeup came right to the room. The hotel set out graze boards and canapes before the ceremony. Their guests simply arrived, checked in, and were welcomed up.

Keeping everything in one gorgeous space did something important for this couple. Both Andrea and Robbie are sensitive souls who can feel overstimulated when there is a lot going on. Having the suite as their home base meant they always had a calm, private place to return to whenever they needed it.

A ceremony that honoured Robbie’s culture

They said their vows out on the suite’s terrace, tucked under an overhang that almost acted like a chuppah. It could not have been more fitting. Robbie is Jewish, and honouring his heritage was a meaningful part of the day. Their officiant wove in Jewish traditions, including the breaking of the glass at the end of the ceremony.

The most tender moment came during Andrea’s vows. Her daughter Astra started to cry, and the whole room felt it. This is exactly why intimate elopements are so powerful. Every single person there truly loves you, and you can feel it in the air.

Intentional down time planned in

Right after the ceremony, we gave Andrea and Robbie a private moment together in their room before moving into the rest of the day. This was intentional. We built quiet windows into the timeline from the very start, so the two of them could breathe, take it all in, and never feel rushed. When you plan for calm on purpose, your whole day feels different.

Golden light and a few sweet surprises

When we headed out for photos around the hotel, the light did something magical. The sun reflected off the building next door and wrapped everyone in a soft, golden, almost angelic glow. We were honestly all in AWE.

A few sweet and funny things happened along the way. While we were photographing outside, there was a lively day party happening nearby, and Andrea was so curious that she walked right over to ask the bouncer what was going on. Then, near the end, a special floral delivery arrived at the hotel from Andrea’s mom. Andrea recognized her mother’s handwriting right away, and it was such a thoughtful surprise.

And a little behind the scenes for you. Partway through family photos, I noticed Andrea’s eyelash starting to lift, so I made a quick dash to grab what I needed and had it fixed in minutes. Small things like that are all part of the job, and I will always take care of them so you never have to think about it.

Better than they could have dreamed

By the time we said our goodbyes and they headed back up to their guests for the evening, my heart was full. Andrea told me the day was better than she could have dreamed. Hearing that, after everything came together so quickly, meant the world to me.
