K + B’s Autumn Kamloops Elopement — Fully Planned in Just 12 Days!

Planning a Kamloops elopement on a short timeline? K + B proved it’s possible. Their intimate autumn elopement overlooking Kamloops Lake was fully planned in just 12 days, complete with sweeping views, heartfelt vows, and cozy mountain details.

Seriously, who says you necessarily need months (or years!) to plan your dream elopement? Not these two. When K and B inquired with me on October 25th about eloping on November 8th, I thought, “Alright, challenge accepted.” They booked a call three days later, signed their contract on the spot (a first for me!), and we were officially off to the races,  planning a full elopement in just 12 days.

This fast-paced planning sprint is proof that a tight turnaround doesn’t mean compromise!
It means clarity, decisiveness, and a whole lot of excitement.

From Saskatchewan to the Mountains of Kamloops

K and B live in Saskatchewan, but their hearts were set on a scenic BC celebration. They chose Kamloops, where their close friend R, who also happens to be a pastor, offered to officiate their ceremony.

After signing on, I sent their Welcome Package and my questionnaires to get a feel for their vibe and vision. Once I saw their inspiration photos, I stayed up late that same night pulling together a location guide, and by Monday, we had secured a gorgeous drive-up lookout spot overlooking Kamloops Lake. (See? You don’t need to hike a mountain to earn an epic view!)

Crafting the Details

As K and B finalized their accommodations, they sent over their timeline questionnaire, and I built out their day, complete with a few secret surprises that I always love to sprinkle in for my couples. Based on their personalities, I booked their breakfast and dinner spots and sent them to The Spot — a stunning Finnish-style spa tucked into the mountains above Kamloops. Think sauna, cold plunge, fire bowls, tea, and total relaxation. They loved it and said yes to everything!

Our lovely, Alice de Crom of Florista, designed the most stunning bouquet, which was delivered the day before, and on the morning of, I hit the road with Chelsea Abram Photography — one of my all-time favourite photographers (and apparently my long-lost twin, since we showed up in matching outfits!). Seven and a half hours in the car together flew by because, honestly, Chelsea is a gem.

Getting Ready in Kamloops

For hair and makeup, we had local dream team, Sarah Fisher Beauty and White Rose Bridal Hair, who met B at her hotel to create a flawless, timeless look.

When Chelsea and I arrived in Kamloops, we did a quick site check at the lookout, grabbed a bite, and prepped for the big moment… the First Look.

K arrived first with their parents and kids, and I pinned his boutonnière before sending him down with Chelsea for the first look. When B arrived, I helped with her veil and white faux-fur wrap, handed her the trailing bouquet filled with soft purple blooms, and carried her train down the path.

The Emotional First Look & Mountaintop Ceremony

This part of the day was emotional for everyone — especially knowing that B had been diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma less than two years ago. After undergoing chemo and losing her hair, it was important to her that she had hair for her wedding day. And today she was radiant and confident, feeling exactly how she wanted to on her wedding day. Seeing the way K looked at her during that first look was heart-melting.

Their families stood nearby, taking it all in from a distance. Afterward, we all walked up the short hill (just two minutes) to the ceremony spot with panoramic views of Kamloops Lake. You’d never know it was just two degrees and windy; everyone’s spirits were warm, and I came prepared with hand and toe warmers for the crew.

R led a beautiful ceremony filled with love and laughter, and K’s dad teared up the entire time. Chelsea and I were honoured to serve as witnesses, which is one of our favourite parts of elopement days.

Portraits, Laughs, and Big-Horned Sheep

We knocked out family photos quickly before sending everyone to their cars to warm up. K, B, and their two boys were total troopers. And the matching hiking boots? The cutest and most practical footwear ever. I’m all about functional and fabulous when it comes to footwear for your adventure elopement.

The proper footwear for an adventure elopement.

Then, we took K and B a little farther up the hill for their portraits, where I brought out my lanterns for a moody touch. K had creative ideas of his own, and their chemistry made the shoot effortless. B’s white gloves paired with K’s black ones — absolute perfection.

During planning, K had told me, “When she smiles, something happens to me — like that feeling you get when you finally come home after being away too long.” I mean… come on! The man is poetry in motion.

When Chelsea asked him how it felt to wear a wedding ring, K told us he’d worn a ring their entire engagement because it didn’t feel right for B to wear one, showing the commitment while he walked around looking single and unattached — a small gesture that said everything about his love and respect for her.

As the temperatures continued to drop, K and B decided to call it a bit early. That’s the beauty of eloping: you set the pace. We already had a full gallery of magic, and you can see from the photos that the results were stunning.

On the way back down, two big-horned sheep sprinted past us up the hill. It was an unforgettable finish to an already incredible day. AND, as we came back down the hill, K’s dad jumped out of the car and ran to take a photo of them. He was seriously the sweetest dad! I can see where K gets his sweetness from.

A Whirlwind Love Story

K and B’s elopement might’ve been planned in less than two weeks, and it was packed with intention, heart, and adventure. Their reason for eloping says it all:

“Cost effectiveness. By offsetting the scale and cost of the ceremony, we get to upsize the scale of our experience. It’s truly about us — no worrying about what drinks or music the guests will like. Just the freedom of not being bound to a venue.”

It’s days like these that remind me why I love what I do. These quick turnaround elopements are my absolute favourite to do! The whirlwind of excitement is ever-present without the stress because you gave it all to us. Whatever the turnaround time, when a couple hands over the reins and trusts me completely, the result is always effortless magic.
