How to Elope in Vancouver, BC

  1. A marriage license. Anyway you slice it, your marriage isn’t legal without it. Luckily in Vancouver, BC they are very accessible, easy to come by… and affordable too! They are $100 CAD & you can find out where to get yours here.

  2. A marriage officiant / commissioner. This is someone who can legally perform your wedding ceremony in British Columbia.

  3. Two Witnesses. To legally wed in Vancouver, you require two witnesses. This is another place where your photographer, videographer, coordinator etc. may come in handy.

  4. Pick a Day. We may be bias but we think you should find your favourite vendor team (wink, wink) or key vendors prior to picking a day. We also LOVE weekdays. WHY? Because all the epic locations we love are empty and all our favourite vendors are available.

  5. Pick a location. We are spoiled in Vancouver with some epic elopement locations. From forests, lakes, golden fields and mountains, we pretty much have it all. The backdrops are endless! Many spots in the Fraser Valley and Vancouver are free to elope in, but recently some Vancouver spots require a permit. This is something a great elopement coordinator can help you with!

  6. Book your vendors. (Photography, Videography, Coordinator, Florals) Elopements should be easy, have some nice flowers & be documented for all those who didn’t get to see it.
